Jean-Michel joined de Spa Cosmetics in 2003, working alongside his mother, Anne Marie de Spa, and gaining an in-depth understanding of the business, its brands and the professional beauty industry. In 2026, Jean-Michel took over the reins of the company, continuing the legacy and strong reputation Anne Marie established over many years.
At the heart of Jean-Michel’s approach is a genuine commitment to building meaningful, long-lasting relationships with customers - a philosophy that has always been central to de Spa Cosmetics. His primary focus is marketing and brand management, overseeing the positioning, development and profile of the company’s portfolio of leading beauty brands.
With more than two decades of experience within the business, Jean-Michel combines a deep respect for its heritage with a forward-thinking approach, guiding de Spa Cosmetics into its next chapter while maintaining the personal service and trusted relationships on which the company was built.

GENERAL MANAGER

Serena first joined de Spa Cosmetics in 2002 and has worked her way through the business to her current role as General Manager. She plays a central role in the day-to-day operation and ongoing success of the business.
With a strong background in financial management and experience across a number of industries, Serena brings a practical and commercially focused approach to her role. She provides essential after-sales and business support, ensuring de Spa Cosmetics’ stockists have the products, resources and assistance they need to operate their businesses efficiently and successfully.
Having been part of de Spa Cosmetics for more than two decades, Serena has an extensive understanding of the business, its brands and, importantly, its customers. Often affectionately described as “the glue” of the company, she works across all areas of the business, keeping everything connected, organised and moving forward while ensuring both the team and stockists receive the support they need.

ACCOUNT MANAGER/TECHNICAL TRAINER

With more than 30 years in the professional beauty industry, Vanessa brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to her role.
Having spent over 15 years with de Spa Cosmetics, Vanessa has become a trusted educator and mentor to beauty professionals throughout New Zealand. Her career has included roles as a beauty therapist, spa manager and educator, providing her with a well-rounded understanding of both exceptional client care and successful clinic management.
A CIBTAC and ITEC qualified beauty therapist, Vanessa has a particular passion for skin diagnosis, active ingredients, product formulations and education. She believes that understanding the science behind skincare gives therapists the confidence to achieve outstanding results.
Vanessa enjoys helping therapists build confidence, strengthen their technical skills and grow thriving businesses. Whether delivering technical education, introducing new treatment protocols or supporting clinic partners with business development, her focus is always on providing knowledge that can be implemented immediately.

ACCOUNT MANAGER/TECHNICAL TRAINER

Gina is a highly experienced beauty professional with over 20 years’ experience in the industry, including over 17 years with de Spa Cosmetics and the Sothys brand. As a Technical Trainer and Account Manager, Gina combines her extensive practical expertise, passion for education, and commitment to excellence to support and inspire de Spa Cosmetics and Sothys partners throughout New Zealand.
An ITEC-qualified beauty therapist with a New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching, Gina brings a unique blend of advanced treatment knowledge and professional training skills to every session.
Renowned for her exceptional hands-on techniques, attention to detail, and ability to deliver engaging practical education, Gina empowers therapists to refine their skills and achieve outstanding treatment results. Her extensive industry experience also enables her to provide valuable business support and guidance, building strong relationships with stockists and helping them grow with confidence.
Her dedication, experience, and genuine passion for the Sothys philosophy and beauty industry shine through in both her practical treatments and education seminars.

DIGITAL BRAND MANAGER

Sarah joined de Spa Cosmetics in 2022, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in retail brand development.
Sarah plays an integral role in building the represented brands, their presence, profile and growth within the New Zealand market. Her understanding of the ever-evolving digital landscape is invaluable in developing engaging campaigns and ensuring each brand maintains a strong and consistent identity across all platforms.
Sarah also leads the company’s social media strategy, driving creative content and digital engagement to connect brands with both stockists and consumers.
Combining strategic thinking with a strong understanding of the retail environment, Sarah continues to play an important role in strengthening de Spa Cosmetics’ digital presence and supporting the ongoing growth and success of its brand portfolio.

WAREHOUSE & OFFICE ASSISTANT

Cathie joined de Spa Cosmetics in 2017 and is a valued member of the Christchurch-based team, working part-time across both the warehouse and office.
Providing essential support with the many day-to-day operations that keep the business running smoothly, Cathie assists across a wide range of areas, from helping process and prepare orders to supporting the wider team with general office and warehouse requirements.
With her years of experience at de Spa Cosmetics, Cathie has developed an understanding of the company processes, its brands and its customers.
Her reliable and adaptable approach means she is always ready to lend a hand wherever needed.
An important part of the behind-the-scenes team, Cathie helps ensure the busy Christchurch office and warehouse continue to run seamlessly.
